That Norwegian Bastard
A few years ago after trying to play the Flagolet for a while, I shelled out for a flute.
Got one dirt cheap in Asia.

Anyways I never got around to playing it, untill NOW

Its very Jethro Tull sounding I supose.
But to me flute and rock`n Roll is jethro.

So here it is in all its glory;

Flute take 1; http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4450718&q=hi

Too cool....I can see you in a jumpsuit with one leg on the other knee. I guess there's just no avoiding sounding like Jethro Tull when you put in a rock song. I love the 2 flute parts...The longer sustaining melodic part is really nice. Would love to hear this as a full tune with vocals. You're a versatile mofo, bro.

(The title of the thread made me think you had sex after abstaining for a long time :D )

Nice one Nak...does remind me of Tull a bit...how did you record it? Sounds mice man...it fits within the tune well.

Haven't listened to Tull in a long time but it certainly reminds me of him. How about spinning up a little Minstrel in the Gallery? ;)

Nice job...

Well I thought In the spirit of ol Jethro toe I`d give it a kinky title :D

I know there is a lot of air in theire, and I need to get me some better "blowing techniques" and "fingering" techniques (my god the flute realy is a kinky instrument :D ).

I sorta did this one as a practice, I think its nice recording bits and Ideas and perhaps use it on a later occasion.

I really wanna do a flute thing with my band.

thanks for the listen bro.

Hi Dogman, Thanks for listening.

Tull was the main reason I bought a flute, I`ll probbably only get the on legged part down though :D

The recording was done kinda hastely, within a couple of hours.

Mxl 603 angled downwards at the 12 fret of the guitar 1-2 feet away

the second guitar same mic, but miced over my shoulder.

The flute was also miced with the 603 , put all the way up under my roof, angled down on my head of axis, got a nice loose sound with it.
In my opinion, besides the fact that I`m no where near a decent level I thought it sounded fair.

bass was done DI--- Fender Pre was the bass.

and last my pal Steinberg groove agent, sounds kinda real.

thanks man, I love minstrel in the gallery, the guitar fill between the folk and rock just kills me, on of the best rockin riffs I`ve heard.

thanks indeed

Sounds great...your acoustic guitar sounds awesome to me too..........

tell me how you got that acoustic recorded! :D

(the rhythm that is)

thanks man.

I listened to some of your stuff at soundclick, and I was thrilled.
Great stuff man. Vintage stuff

Ok here it goes.

the guitar is a dreadnaught.
My room is partially treated with bass traps and panels, I`m still putting up some more.
For this tune I found opening one of my doors and letting some reverbrance from an untreated room, was kinda cool.
I also added just a tad verb (for some extra sparkle).

I used a mxl 603 wich i place a bit high on the mic stand and pointed it downwards 1-2 feet away from the 12 fret.

I also used some decent amount of compression.

eqed ; low cut at 80 and boosted a bit around 200, then cut at 7k and added at 10k.

I have to say Its one of the better sounding accoustic guitar tracks I`ve done :)

thanks again mate hope some of what I wrote makes sense

Sweet man, this is so much Tull here IMO. Love the sound. Dude Nak, keep rocking out and recording demos or whatever, you have some crazy potential ;)

WEIRD,
I was watching TULL on free to air TV yesterday - a concert at the Montreaux Jazz Fest I think. & then this.
I really like the percussive use you made of the little tube as well as the more passive lines.
Hasty has made tasty this time.
Well done. Do more.

lol, nice, I hope that you're serious, that'd be sweet. Try adding a bunch of flange to the flute, you can't go wrong with that :D

Good job on this Nak. I like the arrangement - the way the flute plays melody, backup and goes out for solo. Good playing on all the instruments (nice solo on acoustic) and the recording is nice too.....More of this anytime....

:) :D :) :D
