Hey guys! I hope that some of you are familiar with this singing program, and can help me with my question!

Pretty much, I purchased the program after hearing from so many people that it's worth the money etc. etc. and after two days it is totally apparent that Brett knows what he's talking about. The issue is, that he doesn't really explain (or hasn't yet as far as I've got in the course) how to apply the exercises to singing.

For example, the first technique CD takes you through lip rolls, humming and 'nays' through a scale. This is all well and good but are these exercises at this stage just for warming up the voice? I suppose I might know as I get further into the program but I've been advised not to proceed until I'm 100% comfortable with the lesson I'm on!

i know exactly the program your talking about... he's teaching you normal, pretty well known singing exercises that are common for a lot of choirs to do as a group... they are good things to know but i kinda think the guys a bit of a quack to be honest... if you listen to him... he's not that good of a singer.. and says things like dont push, dont cause pain, dont irritate...

none of that is possible... if you wanna stretch your range you need to push your voice, its full of muscles like verything else.. and there are methods to "hit the note" your going for without pushing .... but thats not what i'd wanna do with my voice...

depending on your genre your singing.. the "push" sound is whats prefered.

i KNOW that a lot of people are going to completely disagree and tell me im giving you terrible advice and you'll lose your voice if you do that... but all the legendary singers... pushed their voice haha..

i've been pushing and pushing since i was 16 and my range increased from singing a G4 to an G5 in full voice (sometimes mix) and have been to a doctor regularly to check up on my throat and chords... i've never had a problem..

yes.. you can develop pollups or nodes, you can do some damage if your dumb.... know your limit... reach your limit... rest for a bit... then go again to your limit..

its a very long growing process, and you really need to grow into your own voice... i honestly dont think singing is something you can necessarily be taught... if someone taught the greats... then why arent they greater?

its about persistance, dedication, patience, practice and passion.... and a bit of knowledge and technique.
