What kind of pattern do I need to make up some breaks. I was sampling some old Funk tunes but I really want to make them my own orginal stuff. Any suggestions?

Drum breaks
Usually sixteenths are good especially if you Syncopate them. I.E.:
1e a2e&a. snare tom combo.

True, sixteenths are useful. Most breaks are swung a bit, which I think is what Bdrum was referring to by "syncopate them"

I use Fruity Loops Studio but I don't like the way you make drum patterns just by adding a sampler to the channel. I much prefer Reason's ReDrum for drums.
