Hi everyone...just found this forum....the quality of the posts are excellent, lots of help here. I'm a guitar player out of the Deep Purple/ Eric Clapton era and I am struggling to get some new tunes down using digital composing. I just got Cake 9 pro and my first stupid question is this... when I record more than one track the previous tracks are also going on to the new track. How do I get one instrument on one track so I can play around with it alone? Hope thats not to basic for this forum... I got lots more.... LOL.

There are a couple of ways that this can happen, but I'll start with the one that comes up about every week here.

You're probably using an SB Live sound card. Go into the windows mixer and check what you have set as your recording source. If it's "what u hear," change it to Line In (assuming you are recording from the Line In port on your sound card).

When What U Hear is the source, you will record everything the sound card "hears," i.e, the stuff you are recording AND the stuff you are playing back.

Exactamundo !!!!

I can do a hell of a 3 piece live show, but I for sure need help with this stuff. Thank you my friend.... nice to know there are answers out there.
