hey guys, more newbie questions. this seems like a nice place and i wish i had known about it longer o_O

anyways, i just got into home recording because i'd like to start doing some sort of as a hobby. i heard lots of good things about the audiophile 2496 card and had some extra $$ to spend so i got one. now the deal is i am having issues with delay in the system. what i input from a mic or guitar will play through my monitors a half second later. i'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for this and what i'm doing wrong, maybe someone could point me in the right direction :)

i have am running several different inputs into a behringer ub1622 mixer, which in turn runs via the tape out RCAs to my audiophile. my computer is 2.4 ghz, 256 ram (just bought a stick of 512 but havent added it yet), and its a clean smoothly running windows pc. the delay time in the delta mixer seems to be between the h/w in 1/2 and the wavout 1/2. any help is appreciated :D thanks

I don't see you mention what software you are using, but it sounds like you have to turn off direct monitoring in whatever program you are using..

a friend lent me logic so i could try it out. it seems to complicated for me at this point but heck, that's why im tryign to learn

OK - well I would try to disabling direct monitoring (if that's an option in Logic)...

alright cool. got that problem taken care of. now the metronome is acting strange. it plays a nice synchronized click but about a half second later it starts a delayed and uglier sounding 'click'. sadly logic doesn't label half their buttons so i have no idea how to make adjustments to many things. oh well, if someone knows an answer then thanks :D
