Hi everybody,

I decided to give my new soundcard(M-Audio Delta 1010LT) a workout tonight recording some drum tracks. They turned out pretty good I think, so I added some guitars and bass from my Line6 Pod X3Live. I haven't come up with a title yet, but please tell me what you think!

Setup:
Guitar - American Deluxe Fender Strat w/0.12 - 0.54
Bass - Fender Squier
Drums - Tama Superstar Customs w/ mostly Sabian Vault Cymbals
Guitar/Bass effects - Line6 Pod X3Live
Mics - Shure SM57s, Sennheiser E604s, Rode NT5's and a Shure Beta 52
Mixer - Alesis Studio24
Mixing Software - Reaper

Any suggestions are welcome as I am still relatively new to the whole multitrack recording process.

Sorry, I don't really have any suggestions, but I did want to say that I think this sounds really good! I'm using almost the same drum mic setup as you (using SP C4s as overheads instead of the NT5s) but don't get nearly that good of a sound. What kind of room are you recording the drums in?

Hey thanks Steelphantom for the response!

I record everything in the unfinished basement of my house. Whenever I play(especially bass) I can hear the air ducts rattling and such to the point that its almost ridiculous. I close mic everything though, and it never seems to be picked up. I don't use the NT5's as traditional overheads because I found I could never get the stereo imaging to work properly. I now point one over the hihats, and one over the ride cymbal. They seem to pick up enough of the other cymbals as well which is nice. I want to add a room mic to try and get the large epic drum sound, but surely it will pick up more rattles then anything.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Listened to your stuff

I swear I've heard that before. Sounds good.

lol, Thanks Novellus. I'm not sure where you've heard my tune before... maybe it sounds like another song? Its a pretty simple three chord song so I suppose there are probably others out there that sound similar.
