Brand new recording..comments please

Anyone care to comment on this mix I would be glad to hear it. Its called "Living on the Street (of broken dreams)"

Recorded,mixed and mastered in Sonar. I think I kinda got the hang of it but I'm not sure.

The vocal is too "out front" for my taste. Needs to sit better in the mix. I think the reverb is a bit excessive. There are a few spots where you seem to lose track of the beat.

Suggestions: I would try backing off the mike a bit and singing louder -- get a more "energetic" feel to match the energy of the instrumental arrangement. Bring the reverb down to about 25% of where it is now. Maybe use a bit of echo on that vocal, too, for a bit of a "live" sound.

Not bad overall.

hard to tell with the 24k audio.
but where's the meat? song's not aggressive in any sense.
Vocals are indeed 'out there'. Things just dont sit well in the mix.
I agree with DonF on the liveliness of it... you just need more energy in it.

The first thing I noticed is the mix is thin ass hell. Wheres the lows and mids? Guitar is too low. Vox too high. No energy in the vox. I'd like to hear the it slightly yelled. Right now it sounds almost like dialogue rather than singing, like it's being read. That trumpet sound annoyed me. Ditch the trumpet and get somebody on lead guitar. Overall this tune needs some balls! No what I mean? Think...... Little Richard, Great Balls of Fire. Balls!
