Just another guy, really.
Boy, What A Load Of Corporate Crap
While trying to find out the impedance of a pair of Bose 102 speakers I have, (five calls to Bose "support," over three days, and two emails, got me nowhere at all) I stumbled onto Wikipedia's post about the company. Good GOD, this thing is obviously written by Bose's own PR department. It makes it sound like Amar Bose sitteth at the right hand of God, Himself! To hear it there, they are on the verge of revoloutionizing the automotive suspension (Amar Bose expects the system to be available commercially on high-end luxury cars by 2009!" altho no one else has heard the news,) ballyhoo about their "L1 Personalized Amplification Systems for Musicians" (which I had the dubious pleasure of helping evaluate for possible purchase, to be used by acoustic musicians- that thing went back to the store real fast,) and they even would have us believe they figured out, well before anyone else, that "cold fusion" didn't work (As I recall, they were duped more than most.) Even the "Criticisms" portion is thinly-disguised praise.

I almost lost my lunch.

dont know if he still does but back when i was selling hi-fi it was pointed out to me that he teaches at MIT (was true) but it's got nuthin to do with audio... should have been marketing... though for the longest time the phrase that pays was "no hi's... no low's... must be bose..." also at a crown amp seminar for techs they put up on the overhead a pic of the curve used for the 901-802... shoulda heard the laughter...

"In some consumer-level publications outside of this debate, Bose is regarded as a producer of high-end audio systems. [44][45][46][47][48][49]"
Nobody but an employee would be able to find that many references.

In Bose's defense, a highly-paid outside consultant probably could too. It doesn't have to be an employee.

:D

The thing that sums up Bose for me is how they tried to sue that magazine for printing a bad review about one of their systems. If that was any decent manufacturer who were interested in being 'quality' and 'high-end' they would've accepted the criticism and made changes based on it, but what else can you do when you're only pretending to be 'quality' and 'high-end'? Dig out the lawyers!

You could have used a $5 DMM and measured the Speakers nominal impedance......:D
