I am on a tight budget and this is the best PA system i could find. i found a Crate PA6FX adn it comes with two P 10 speakers for 320 dollars is that a good deal or should i try something different?

10" speakers aren't going to move a lot of air, and I'm not sure what the specs are on the mixer, but since it's a crate, I'm guessing maye 80W? Which really isn't very much. It's hard, though, to get a decent system on a budget when starting from scratch. I spent about 600 on a system from carvin quite a few years ago, and it's worked ok for what I've used it for. If you can get something with more power and at least 1x12" cabs, that'd be a lot better.

it's ok to start, but you'd be better off with a used crate head & different speakers that will probably cost about the same but be better.
i got my crate pa head (without all the effects & stuff) for 200 used. & paid another 200 for 12" speakers.

waht about a set of peavey's 2 15inch wooffers in each, 279$ At MF still need an amp head though 1400 watts total, sounds like they got a lot of kick reviews are good on them too.

A 1400 watt head would be way to much! That would be almost 900 dollars. I ain't that rich.

220W could probably get you by all right for a start, but at least 12" speakers would make a big difference compared to little 10"ers. Last band I was in we had a 200W and a 120W pa (carvin and rogue respectively), and usually ran them both just to spread the sound out more. We always mic'd everything, regardless of volume. More for the purposes of filling the room with sound than filling the room with volume.
