Bowie Mic Trick.

The one with one mic at 15 feet away and another 30 feet away. Where the hell did I see that mentioned (recently) :confused:
 
i think I read an interview in TapeOp with some guy who worked with Bowie where they used this setup. I've also read where Brian May does a simular setup recording guitar.
 
I've read about it in 2 or 3 different places, the most recent being in the last issue of TapeOp. I think that it was in an issue of EQ or Recording last year, as well. The mics were gated, so that the quiet passages were only in the close mic, the louder passages turned on the second mic, and the loudest passages activated the third mic. Instant volume-dependant reverb!

I don't get Tape Op (by which I mean I don't subscribe to/purchase it), so it couldn't be there. No, it was definitely in a thread on one of the Pro-Am Audio Boards (this one, Tape Op's, Prosound, et?). If Eeldip's around maybe he can point me in the right direction, seeing as how he's probably a bigger Message Board hussy than even I am! :D
