Hi I found one of these for sale and was wondering if they would connect with computer for microphone recording?

It has the 48V Phantom power that is required for a condenser mic, but other than that I'm not sure if this is what I'm after.

Features:

Ultra low noise 8 channel 2 bus mixer
2 Mono input Channels with gold plated XLRs and balanced Line inputs
Ultra low noise discrete Mic pre-amps with +48 phantom power
2 stereo input channels with balanced TRS jacks
2 additional multifunctional stereo line inputs
Extremely high headroom-offering more dynamic range
Balanced inputs for highest signal integrity
Ultra-musical 3 band EQ on all channels
Peak LEDs on all mono channels
1 AUX sends per channel for external effects and monitoring
Seperate master mix, control room and headphone outputs
2-track inputs assignable to Master mix or control room/headphone outputs
Highly accurate 10-segment bar-graph meters
High-quality sealed potentiometers
Rugged Design power supply ensures superior signal integrity

Any inputs would be much appreciated!

Short answer Yes,

Long answer, It can be done but its far from ideal. Basically, if you take an RCA to phono cable and plug into the tape outs and the mic in on your pc sound card it could work. it would give you two tracks (left and right inputs) meaning that the most you could do at one time is two mono or one stereo track,

Personally I'd suggest going for a dedicated interface instead, I only use the desk when I've more inputs than my interface can handle and I want to make busses, or level drum mics etc,

Oh and that RCA cable is guessing it has RCA outputs but regardless you can only put two tracks into a stock soundcard in 99% of cases,

Have a look around the market anyway, I've had my mind on a nice little M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R as an upgrade. and you might get a nicer interface for less than you'd drop on the desk,

Whats your budget btw?

Thanks for your input!

Yes it has RCA outputs. I'm trying to post photos but stupid forum won't let me, even though I have more than 5 posts!

M-Audio interfaces would definitely be ideal, but the thing is this mixer would cost be about $100 less than even the most basic M-Audio interface, so it really goes without saying, if all I need a couple more cables for this to work, then this is it.

Oh and I only need this to record one stereo track at a time (vocals).

Well if you only want to do one track at a time, I'd actually suggest against it, Vocals are mono, and a nice little usb number might suit better,

Product: Alpha | Lexicon Pro these are around €100
they come with a nice little interface, cubase recording software, and a really nice reverb plugin that would get you started recording vocals.

A mixer is for taking multiple inputs and combining them. You should get an audio interface. For example, this PreSonus or this M Audio

The A/D converters in most computers' factory soundcards sucks and will be the limiting factor in your sound quality.

.

they upped it to 10 posts ..... you're almost there ..... just go comment on a couple of threads.

Sorry for the LONG non-reply. Okay so I found someone selling Lexicon Lambda. So this should be able to do what I need it to???

Has +48V phantom right? And Cubase LE 4 that it comes with, is it full version?
