Yo Charon of 17:

If you have a multitrack recorder, analog or digital, it is usually possible to "bounce" one or two tracks to a "third" track.

Bouncing means transferring what you have recorded on one track to another track. Thus, you would free up one or two tracks to record more parts if needed for the given song.

Here is the problem when you bounce, say, two tracks: bass, and keys, TO ANOTHER TRACK: you can tweak that track which now has two or more tracks on it; however, YOU CANNOT TWEAK ANY INDIVIDUAL SOUND ON THAT TRACK.

So, tweaking the bass may not do the keys any good as far as sound. And, if you have three parts on ONE track, forget tweaking anything.

That's why and 8 or a 16 track box is much better than a 4 tracker. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BOUNCE TRACKS AND YOU CAN TWEAK EVERY TRACK "IF TWEAKING IS NECESSARY."

Hope this helps you,
