Dogman

Unkle Ticklefingers
This is basic....2 mics, blended at 75%, with a small amount of verb...no eq or anything else.....

Test

It's a Vox AD100VT....pretty versatile. Mics are a 58 on the left, and a CM90 on the right...blended at 75%, with a sMall amount of verb. Drums are ez-drummer...no processing, but the same verb.

I will play with mic settings later, but wanted to try something quickly. It's a pretty cool amp for $500. It's loud...this is turned way down.

im not too familiar with the vox stuff, but from what ive seen and heard, theyre a pretty good product. whenever i go to GC to fingerfuck the expensive guitars, i always head straight to the vox stuff to plug-in and fiddle around. theres never anyone over in that section. most of the tards are climbing over eachother over by the marshalls and crates.

Hmmmm...Dog you know I'm not a guitar player, so take it for what it's worth. I find it lacks warmth, but maybe it's not supposed to be a warm sound. But it lacks the bottom that would give it "umph"...The best way I could put it is that it sounds like you have a wah pedal set at half-way down, almost giving it that "Money for Nothing" sound. Which is a nice sound, but the riff sounded like it would need a bigger sound.
Could be my ears right now. Maybe I'll hear it tomorrow differently, I've been recording all day with phones on, so my hearing might be fucked.

By the way, what do you mean the 2 mics are at 75%????

Nice..........chunky, crunchy....everything an amp should be...congrats on the new toy!!!

Guitar is my crappy old Ibanez....22 or so years old, modified with an EMG 81 pickup. Doesn't hold tune for squat, but I haven't played in years, so I probably never know... :D

Rami, this is just the first of my tries....it is so editable, I have no idea where to start.....I put in a bunch of low end, and a moderate amount of highs, but little mids...it's supposed to be more akin to some modern rock tone....I will have to tune it a bit for some real sounds....you think it's lacking some mids at this point, or just overbearing lows? I seldom play in regular E tuning, so this was sort of new to me.... :o

And 75% meant that I amped with 2 mics, and then instead of doing say each one all the way to left and right, I brought them in to 75% left and right...just to make them each heard on both sides. Does that make sense?

Thanks all...it's gonna take some time to figure out, but hopefully my next tunes will have some better guitars than my previous... :D

Ah, I see...the 75% was reffering to the panning. Sorry man, I'm slow.

I don't think it has overbearing lows, I actually found it was a bit mid-y, lacking a bit of crunch...But, honestly, I'm the last person who should be talking about guitar sounds...And to make it worse, like I said, I've had phones on all day, so my ears are probably way out of whack. I'll listen again tomorrow. I'm not worried about you getting a good tone, you've always had big-ass guitar sounds. I'm sure it's me.

Thanks man..your opinion matters, as you wind up with some cool shit...if I can improve, I'm open to all suggestions... :D

I'm too lazy to go look up the specs on that amp so I'll just ask you - does it also have direct outs like the Line 6 amps?

I like the tone you got on your first test, and I can imagine how good it would sound with a bass line in there.

Nice grind in the tone, was that your standard tuned guitar on that one Dog?
Was that a modeled tone or the natural amp's tone? Soundin' sweet thats for sure!

It does have a direct out, and an out for headphones..so it's pretty versatile that way.

And yeah, my standard guitar..I haven't plugged in the Low B guitar yet...I shall try that one tommorrow...I still have a Death Metal song to finish.... :D

I can't wait to hear what you churn out with this amp Dogman!

I know it is just a test, so I like what I know I am going to be hearing from this amp and the Dogman!.. :) :) :)

Congrats on the new toy Dogman!! :)

Shades of Gray?????? Is that right Dog? or a different one? I remember playing with this at some point :D
Anyway, guitar has kind of an old school rock feel, I like it, some crunch in there. Lacks of the lower/mid sounds, but it's hard to be a judge on that now since the bass usually fills up those frequencies.
Anyway, cool Dog, congrats on the amp

Sounds pretty nice. :)

Clean playing. Meaning no hitting bad notes that get muffled in the dist.

Crunchy tone.

Some bass will fill it out and if you were playing faster, it would only excite the listener more. :)

Enjoy the new amp. Congratulations.

The guitar sounds very raw.
There`s also a fair amount of fret noise.
But then again thats very common when there is a strong trebble boost.
I love the treble boost the vox gives, I just bought myself a 212 vox cab with an open back, and it rawks.

If you have an open back on yours try putting it in a corner, you`ll get such a heavy tone.

Anyway those Vox VT amps willgive you loads of options.
A great choice my friend :)

Thanks guys...ove the amp so far.....now I just need to set it up right... :D

It needs a home first, it's just sitting in the middle of the room at the moment, but that makes it easy to play. I might just keep it there, and re-arange the rest of my junk so I can walk around the room.

I also need to work on some new riffs.... :o
