Boss to Smartmedia to PC

Maybe this is a newbie question but it's also a Smartmedia card question...
I have the Boss BR-532 recorder & love it but having probs getting the files into my PC. Got a 12-in-1 card reader which is supposed to read Smartmedia cards. I got it new off Ebay, it came packaged & with a driver disc & the usb cable but that's all it does. Well it eats my media cards too. Waste of money, i suspect, but does anyone know how to make it work? (I have windows xp if that matters)

Have a look for the latest software on www.rolandus.com
Maybe the version on your disk doesn't like XP.
 
I also have the BR-532. I have never had trouble getting my files off the media card, but am using a different reader than you. When you say it ate the card, did it physically damage it, or just erase the files? Do you have the BR532WC software intalled on your computer? You will ptobably need it, as I don't think it is stored as a wav file from the recorder. I also have XP. As Jim Y stated, look for the latest software from BOSS.

... a belated thanks but thanks nonetheless... i got frustrated & gave up so I'm just seeing your comments now. I'll try your suggestions & hope it works!
 
PS ... it didn't eat or erase the card...

it just gets stuck & i have to dig it out. :(
