Boss GP-20 amp factory

Has anyone tried the boss amp factory for direct recording?
Does it basically have the same amp sounds as on the V series recorders effects cards?
I'm looking for a clean to not so clean sound to use with my hard disc recorder (KORG D-16). I'm not thrilled with the amp simulations on the d-16
