I just bought the Boss BR 800 and I am having real trouble with it. I have watched a demo on you tube that was very informative, but I still don't get it. It is connecting with the software because when I play the pre loaded demo song I can see the eq move, but I don't hear it. Will it play through my computer or do I have to connect external speakers? Also, I am confused about the equipment hook up. Do you run the guitar through the amp and then into the boss or directly in the boss? I know these are stupid questions, but I am just not getting it

There are no speakers in it, so if you don't have some powered speakers plugged into it, or headphones, you're not going to hear anything. You could take the audio L & R outputs and plug them into your computer soundcard's line inputs, then listen through WIndows Media Player, or other sound software, too.
