BOSS BR-1600Cd CD-RW Drive replacement

Hello, does anyone know if the CD-RW drive in the BOSS BR-1600CD can be replaced with a different brand/ model of laptop type drive? Or is the UJDA340 the only drive that will work?

I looked at a few pictures but there's nothing definitive.

How is the drive connected to the unit? Based on this picture (upper left is back of dvd drive) it appears there's an adapter that connects it directly to the ide interface. You need to buy the appropriate drive for that type of connection. If you could provide a pics of what the back of the dvd drive looks like (without the adapter) I could help hunt down an alt drive. Because laptop drives often slide in and connect directly to the motherboard's interface, there's a few connection types. It's best to be sure.

For mounting, it appears they use a bracket, and the drive's shape would tell me almost any other shape laptop drive should fit in the bracket.
