Hi all, I'm new to digital recording and it shows. Does anyone know of a good easy-to-follow tutorial covering the BR 1200CD? I'm having trouble seeing the forest for the trees. Thanks.

I bought the Boss BR-1180 Quick Guide, tech master series published by Hal Leonard. It was $34.95 CDN at a major music store. The book is rather useless to me now but it was extremely useful when I first got it to point out the obvious, and answer various questions, or it had some step by step instrustions for certain things. Don't get me wrong I still refer to it every now and then. Perhaps they have one for the 1200 now, just check out the publisher Hal Leonard and the author of this one was Caroline J. Alexander.

Dumby, thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that. At this point, my feelings about this device are probably much like yours were early on. Yes, there's the manual that came with it, but there ought to be something easier to follow for certain tasks. My Yamaha PSR 2000 keyboard's manual is very helpful for some tasks, less so for others. So a Yamaha PSR tutorial website has been developed with this in mind. It's extremely helpful. I'm hoping to find a similar website geared toward the Boss BR recorders.

Go join the Yahoo BR1180 user group. Have a look in the files section for the "Tips". Search through old posts for just about any question you could probably have. Then ask your own questions. It's a very active and helpful group. The group's called BR1180, but covers 1180, 1200 (which I have), and 1600, because they are all pretty similar devices.

That is very good advice. The manual that comes with the 1180 got me started, but there is a lot it doesn't cover. I presume the same applies to the 1200. I basically had to noodle around with the machine to fiqure out a lot of things. The Yahoo group is very helpful.

Call Roland!! NOW!! They got DVD tutorials for most of the BR series. If they don't have one for the 1200 get the one for the 1180 (which is practically the same machine) or the 1600. Once you run through the tutorial you'll be fine. Trial and error counts for something too.

there is a dvd for the 1200, just got it and its pretty good. Its a bit rushed I think, I was hoping for a talking manual plus lots of tips and tricks and shortcuts etc but it doesnt quite get into the nitty gritty.
