Hey all,

About a month ago I recorded some tracks for some friends of mine, and I just now got started on working on mixing (and pretty half-assedly, at this point). Anyways, take a listen if you want. The song is a rock/punk/etc type of tune (maybe you can help me classify it, too). Criticism of all kinds is welcome, with a few small considerations:
A) I know the vocals are quite flat and/or off-key at quite a few spots
B) I know that the snare has a weird, ugly sounding rattle to it

The reason I want you to ignore these if at all possible is because I plan on re-recording all of these tracks in their entirety. I'm just doing this for some practice, and for something to do. I am, however, pretty happy with the sounds of the ride cymbal, bass guitar, and kick drum, though.

If you're at all interested in the gear I used, just ask. Maybe I'll post a picture or two.

The song is a .zip file...I don't know if geocities is finicky about mp3 files, and Nowhere Radio isn't accepting new registrations, so I'm stuck for the moment.

Anyways, here it is:

Seven Seas - Tomorrow's So Cold

Is it really that bad? Or did I just come off the wrong way? I really am looking for honest, helpful input.

FYI - Links to geocities don't work...the address actually has to be manually put into the Address bar. Also, zip files are more work than mp3's, plus they're not as safe. (Maybe I'm paranoid, but I usually wait til someone else comments on a zip file before giving it a try :D)

Thanks for the heads-up.

I hate Geocities on account of its really small bandwidth allowances, but like I said, Nowhere Radio isn't accepting new registrations currently. I can assure you that the .zip contains nothing but the mp3, but of course you're taking that at face value.

Thanks for trying, at least. I'll try to get it cleared up ASAP...I'm really looking forward to having it broken down and built back up with help from others.

First, too much silence at the beginning (5 seconds befor the tune starts; cut that down to about 2 seconds). The drums over aren't bad but the kick is MIA. The vocalist is a matter of taste I suppose. To me he's sort of an audio root canal but that's just my humble opinion. Your mix is OK, just get the kick in there.
