Just out of curiosity: has anyone tried this? something like a tubescreamer into a pod or whatever?

What happened? Are modelers generally built to also handle such things, or will they just clip or compress the signal to death before it even reaches the pre?

Hmmmm. I have a friend who runs a Boss ME50 into a Line 6 Spider 2; his distortions just sound compressed to death. I suppose it depends on how agressive the booster is and what sort of patch you're using. In my experience, the distortion patches on modellers tend to overcook things as it is.

Well, I did once throw an MXR overdrive in front of my GT-6 just for shits and giggles, but I really didn't see much point in it. I figure if you've got a big piece of modeling doom, you're probably looking to have a wide array of sounds, both clean and distorted...so why dirty up a nice chorus-y delay?

The overdrive was just there for me as a solo gain boost...the pedalboard did just fine coming up with the sounds I needed on its own.

thanks so far.

it's really just curiosity. nothing like a thing I plan to do to get closer to my desired sound.
