For the life of me i cannot record acoustic guitar without some element of BOOM. I have two mics- a shure dynamic (Model no. has rubbed off with age) and a LD condenser. I have the stand/shockmount etc but no technique whatsoever! Any guidance most welcome!

I've been having the same problem, someone here suggested EQ'ing out the boom with a high pass filter...or try diff. mic placements maybe a bit further up the neck( away from the sound hole)

Good sweet spots are around the 3-12th fret a few inches to a foot away. Above the bridge about head hight. A few feet away out in front. Or any combination of the above.

texroadkill is right.....I only mic the sound hole if their on stage and sitting....but for the most part, the people with acoustic guitars on stage that I've dealt with have usually brought their acoustic electrics
