Hey guys, What books or monthly magizines would you guys recommend for me. I mean to learn eq'ing, mixing and general stuff that I should be keeping up on?

If It Were Me...

I recommend the following:

www.homerecording.com/bbs

There are a ton of talented, intelligent, and articulate folks standing by 24-7 to answer any EQ questions you may have. (save the subscription fee for something like Penthouse).

LOL, ok I walked into that one. I mean like you guys don't get electronic musicians or any other monthly mag just to read in the shitter or anything.

I wiped my ass with "Keyboard" once ... ran out of the real stuff, ya know ...

Hey Kramer, That's neat. Yesterday in the local paper in the business section they where talking about home recording. They even mention homerecording.com/bbs they also mentioned recordingwebsite.com... I checked it out, and there is some good info. there.

Thanks Track Rat, I like them freebie's my self. I spend enough on my recording stuff.

Boydrj, I thought that's why they made sears catalogs.

Hey flash I finally got to hear Hazed. Try double tracking the guitars and panning them hard left and right. The one you've done is a keeper. Just record another one (dont just copy it or it wont work) even if it sounds different. if you can't do another track for whatever reason, try convertint the rythum guitar track to stereo (if its not already) then add about 20 milliseconds og delay from right to left. That will fake double tracking kind of.

Hey thanks Scott, Someone else told me that same thing but I thought to myself I had two guitars in there. panned hard left hard right. Now I remember I was using my toneworks foot switch which has left and right outputs that I recorded to track 1 and track 2. Is this why I'm not getting the sterio sound every one is telling me about. I thought I was recording sterio.

Did you have 2 guitar tracks? Or 2 guitars, each being 2 tracks (L & R).

If it's the first (1 guitar, 2 tracks), and it's just L & R, yeah, it'll sound like one guitar...cause that's what it is. :D

If you offset either the left or the right track by .30 ms (my personal favorite), you'll get the stereo effect your looking for.

Sorry if I missed the point or the question or the boat or the bus or whatever.

Running a stereo signal to 2 tracks wont give you the same results that playing the track twice will....I already told you all this in the thread you posted the song in damn it!:D

Speaking of the crapper...

"Home Recording" magazine (not the same as "Recording" magazine) makes excellent toilet paper....

I've never seen a magazine with worse misinformation than that one before...........

Holy Sh?t Blue bear where ya been? Oh I know, I'm caught up in this MP3 clinic and haven't been over to mixing and mastering for a while.... Good to see ya again.

Kramer, I don't have no smiley faces to the left. I have a message Icon above where I reply, which looks like I can only put 1 face at the beginning....
