book/website recommendations

hi, i was wondering if any experienced musicians who have done a lot of sound recording/ editing on the computer know of any websites and or books that would help educate me about the intermediate and advanced terms and know hows of sound recording, creation, and editing. (this site is obviously quite helpful, but is more for individual questions, I am looking for a tutorial or reference manual)

a few examples of things i would like to know about are direct x effects, normalization, dithering, mastering, etc...
