I know direct is second best, but I'm stuck with it, so...I bought the best I could, the Boogie and TC G-Force, and I'd like any tips you guys might have for getting rid of the forced brashness that always seems to happen no matter what you use if you're recording direct.

Wit the boogie, what my ears are liking right now is this: modern (I think that means Triple Rectifier in Boogie-speak?), gain is about 2 or 2:30 o'clock, treble is about 12, mids are about 9 o'clock, bass is about 1 to 2 o'clock, and master is about 1 o'clock. Going into the TC, the 'record' out is about 11 o'clock, and the TC is at around 10 o'clock. The output is to (sigh) Audigy 2. Using Sonar XL.

I know direct is not the real way to go, but I'm stuck with it, so anyone else who can give me some tips, I'd appreciate it. If I have to mike, I'm a dead dude.

My 'sound'...well, I like Zakk, Hetfield, Vai (woo hoo diatonic shifting!), uh, lots of stuff. Playing, I try to be no more dirty that Angus Young, but that never happens...LOL. My 'music' is more like Leonard Cohen meets a heavy pop guy like George Lynch. That must sound totally retarded...
