BlueTubeDP Help: Setting gain/tube drive again

I got a friend comin up to record some vocals this weekend, and I need help fast! I would've been here sooner asking for help, but a newborn has kept my hands full!

I've got a Studio Projects TB1 mic hooked to the Presonus BlueTubeDP preamp, run through the MAudio Delta 44/p4 pc.

I just can't seem to get ideal recording levels. Can someone with a BDP help me out here on where exactly to bracket both levels at or near? Something close to what works for you would help. I'm recording hip hop vocals in a booth environment, so, I just need a decent outcome, not perfection.

From the way your question is phrased you imply that you're trying to use both channels for one microphone, and that may well be the source of your problem.

Your Blue Tube has meters on the front. Use these to get close and the meters in whatever software you're using to fine tune your levels.

he's referring to the gain, and tube drive settings on the bluetube DP.

just as long as you make sure it's not clipping(going in the red) and you can hear it, i think you should be fine. just do some mic checks. if you're clipping, turn it down.

as far as the tube drive goes, it depends on how much tube sound you want in your recording...

yupper...don't over drive it. A lot of post work can be done to clean things up if you record at lower levels but once you over-drive or clip the signal, you're done...you can't fix it.
