Hi i am just wondering, are the blue vodoo crate series amps any good?
and if so for what type of playing?

also waht is the differnt between the 60 and the 120 series

i sawe a used 60 seriers at guitar centre for 300something bux, is that a good deal?

thanks

A friend of mine has a Blue Voodoo head and 4x12 cabinet. I don't remember which series. I thought it sounded real nice, better than Crate's other stuff. He plays numetal/hardcore type stuff with it, and it gives a good heavy crunchy tone, but I'm sure it can get some good rock tones also.

Then again, my amps suck, so maybe I just think they're great :D

$300 sounds like a good deal though-- what size is it? Is it the head or the cab?

I think that the blue voodo are the best that Crate makes. I believe the 60 was a 60 watt that is no longer produced. The 120 is 120 watts. Take a test drive and see what you think. A nice all tube amp for the money in my eyes though.

I have a blue voodo0 (bv120), nice amp, good for rock and metal.

60 watts? what does the wattage in the haed actually mean?
does tha tmean i can only push the cab to 60 watts and no more??
the amp i have right now is the gfx 212 and that has120 watts and is a solid state

also would u recommend this or some type of marhsall?

Wattage can mean different things depending on what you're talking about: some manufacturers rate a power amp in by peak power, some by RMS (average) power. I don't know the science of it, but 60 watts would probably mean that it provides 60 watts of continuous power to drive the speaker.

Most guitarists generally equate an amp's wattage to how loud it is, and there is some correllation. However it's not always true that a 60 watt amp is louder than a 40 watt amp. That's why sometimes you'll hear somebody say "Wow! That's a really loud amp for only 40 watts!"

With modern sound reenforcement, the trend is away from mammoth/ high watt amplifiers to lower watt combos or half stacks. A wall of Marshall stacks is something you'll be seeing less and less of, Im afraid.
