Hoping for some help.

I'm running sonar 1.0 on a new dell with m-audio delta 66 sound card.

i've gotten the blue screen in the past and rebooting has always fixed the problem. however tonight no such luck. after rebooting all other programs on the machine (including window media) work, but sonar doesn't.

anyone have any idea how to fix this?

What flavour of Windows are you running? I haven't seen a blue screen of death for ages. Your best bet may be to reinstall Sonar (or worse - Windows)

Have you upgraded the drivers for the Delta 66?

blue screens are usually caused by kernel mode errors (mainly drivers cause them).

sonar 1.0 may be sending something illegal to the audio driver and causing the blue screen. try upgrading to a newer version of cakewalk... or trying a different sound card.

sorry, i'm running windows xp. i haven't updated the drivers since i bought the delta 66 and omni studio about 8 months ago. how often does m-audio usually issue updates on these?

sounds like there may be a driver conflict as window media player or dell jukebox won't run unless sonar is running, but i'm not really sure.

yeah that's not good :)

go on their website and download a new driver, i'm sure they've updated something since the time you bought it....

It's very rare that the CD with the drivers contain the latest drivers. That's the first thing I check when I buy new computer hardware. In 99 of100 cases there's a new driver available.

thanks moskus, i'm definitely going to grab the latest drivers.

i've managed to get some sound back working, the problem is it's only coming out of the left channel.

during my search for solutions, i adjusted a lot of settings here and there, but can't seem to get the panning / balance back. is there an obvious setting that i'm missing.

thanks.
