I would like to use a Blue Max mic preamp with the VF16. The VF16 has mic pres that I cant bypass, how would I go about this. Keep the trim on vf16 all the way down? Not use the blue max at all?
Thanx for any help.

the blue max is a compressor. I think you may mean the bluetube.

Go into one of the ballanced inputs with a trs plug. Now you have 4 channels of phantom and with drums that may come in handy.

Yes it is the blue tube. The question is, where do I set the trim knob on the vf16 since I cant bypass the mic preamp in the vf16? Anyone? Please?

Have you tried posting this in the Fostex Forum? You might get answers quicker there.

Yes, i would just turn the vf-16's trim levels down all the way and plug in your external preamp.

Thats a good way not to get any signal into the unit. You will have to have the trim knobs up but be consevitive about it. But dont try to compensate with the drive and gain on the pre or you will get noise from it.
