Morning,

Did you get your supplies locally in Ottawa?? Before I start calling around I thought I would see if you got your stuff around these parts. The wood and MDF shouldn't be hard to find but any word on 703 or 705?? If you didn't use that insulation what kind did ya use. Any help would be great. That goes for anyone in the Ottawa area. Thanks

Geoff

Yup... the contractor got most of the stuff locally, I beleive....

The insulation was the Roxul Sound Isolation stuff....

Great I thought I saw a website for them. Roxul sound isolation. I will look for it. Thanks a bunch. On a side note.. You ever mix hiphop tracks?

Altruist,

The product is Roxul Safe 'n Sound insulation, available at your local Home Depot
outlet.

Works great for absorber construction as well, provided you wrap it with batting, then fabric of your choice (burlap, etc.)

I used the stuff everywhere, a little itchy for some, didn't bother me though.

Best of luck,

Ohh perfect one stop shopping then. Thanks a bunch. I am using the insulation for hanging traps and slot resonators. Should do the trick I think. I figuired I could get the MDF, burlap and rolux all from home depot. Then grab the batting from Walmart and the black cloth from fabric land. I got another quick question to anyone else who stops in..Do you wrap the whole hanging traps in batting and cover with say burlap or what. Also the slot resonator are the slats at the front mdf??

Anyways thanks alot

Geoff

Altruist,

Not sure about the burlap, everything else should be there...don't forget to wrap the
insulation with batting first (keeps the fibres where they belong, inside the absorber, resonator, not your lungs!)

Batting is available at any fabric store, got mine at WalMart (Lincoln Fields) and BouClair (Merivale), but this stuff is common.

Once again, best of luck

Got the cotton material from Rockland Textiles -- $2.99/meter.... different colors available too...

Bob - apparently we keep "almost bumping in to each other" at Steve's.... according to Fred and Ted, it's happened several times now where you come in, and about an hour after you leave, I show up....!

Bruce,

That's so I can try and score some deals before you get there!

Seriously, next time I have to visit our friends on Rideau Street (seems to be a weekly occurence) I'll wait an hour before heading down, maybe that will alter our internal time clocks, get us in sync!

BTW, the new studio looks great...makes we wish I hadn't "cut" some corners, ah...live and learn.

Look forward to hooking up in the near future!

Best of luck,

Feel free to drop by sometime if you're in the neighborhood or on your way to Steve's -- I'm just up off River Road, slightly north of Manotick.......

Hey Blue Bear I noticed that you have a presonus pre amp. You like that one. I have been eyeing it at steves for sometime now??

Thanks for all the help guys much appreciated..

Geoff

Yeah - it's a nice unit -- fairly clean-sounding.... I do use it on vocals a fair bit...

Thanks Bruce,

Sometime in the next month I'll try and get over, as soon as all of our fall fair shows, etc. are done...heading to Guelph (friday), then back to Ottawa (saturday) for two shows this weekend, so it's kind of crazy this time of year...anyway, I've got lots to finish up at the new studio, and I look forward to getting some ideas/advice/different perspective on a few things...same offer applies to you to pop by Pinederosa; I'm operational (with clients), but still putting a lot of finishing touchs in...maybe will be completely done by end of January, band takes month off then!

Email me privately and I'll give you directions to the studio, you can give me your address at the same time.

Look forward to hearing from you,
