I suffer Narcoleptic Rage
If ya already forgot Ill refresh.

I posted a tune titled "Just so you know" a few days ago and the most common remark was the guitars...Blue Bear labeled it "buzzy and mushy".

Well I solo'd one of the git tracks and listened, REALLY listened (my ears are far from "trained") and I thought maybe I could hear a buzz.

So I fired up my guitar rig and played some. I listened REALLY hard...and heard this buzz. Stopped playing...no buzz...short lil strum....buzzzzzzzz....faintly, behind the distortion was this buzz and I let the chord decay. Then the gate kicked in....no buzz. I bypass the gate and -40db (+/-) kicks up on the monitor of this ungodly buzzing static noise!!!

Turns out the distortion patch is bunk. When I changed to a couple others (this one was the only one I liked...go figure) it went away. A bit of recabling and my DI box and Ive got the guitars cleaned up nice...

a BIG thanks!!! Id have never noticed that guys...MUCH appreciated.

( ^>^ ) <--- the ears man....blue bear you GOTTA tell me where you bought yours!!! hehehehehe

Later Guys!

Ol' Blue stole mine--thats why my stuff sounds like ass these days!

Actually, when you got 'em you got 'em. Good work on tracking that problem down. I love to see people actually run with something and come out winning! Good job!

One thing that Ive encountered a lot since computer recording lately is the RF emmision from the monitor getting into the guitar pickups . You sit back and get a good sound then you go to record it and BuZZZZZ. Backing away from the monitor or shutting it off does the trick! I even bought a wireless mouse so I could get away from the monitor and record.

Not that anyone here doesn't already know this. But just a chance that someone, like me several months ago, may find it a helpful tip.

Peace
Bill

Or get an LCD monitor. Looks cool and takes up less space too.
