Is there any way I could get my guitar to sound like blink182's new album?

I don't think they use much distortion, but I don't know where to get the sound from. I have amplitube and adobe audition. If there's some way to get it to sound like that, i'll be FOREVER grateful! I don't really like blink182 (or their lyrics or anything) but I really like the sound of the guitar in their songs.

For example, if they use some reverb, tell me what kind and give me the "specs." I know nobody here knows it for certain, but if you know how i could get it close, i'd be thankful.

For all you know, it could just be an effects box...

What you already have may not do it.

On blink 182's newest cd, Tom (the guitarist) used a variety of different amps and guitars, sometimes tracking with two amps, one amp, full 4x12 cabinet, combo, single speaker tweed combo.....you get the idea. So getting Tom's sound isnt really super easy to do considering you dont know what mics, pre's amps and guitars were used. However, a semi hollow body or Les Paul through a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier on channel 2, half gain and some various tone settings, will come damn close. A more obtainable solution for you might be to find someone with a line 6 pod (you can also get them used on ebay), using the rectified setting, again half gain, making various tone adjustments will get you in the ballpark.

If you can, mic an amp, it sounds way more organic. Personally, my Marshall JCM600 combo can almost imitate Tom's tone given the circumstances......play around with amps, guitars and micing techniques.

yeah toms sound on that record may be kind ahard to get, like witht he song asthena they used a amp with a tube thats was glowing purple about dye out to get the sound they got, so its gonna be very tricky to do get his sounds...

i'd also like to add that some of the distorted guitars on their newest cd were compressed with slow attacks to emphasize the palm mutting.

Does anyone here has amplitube? If so, say I got a clean recording, what settings would approach me to their sound?

Thanks a LOT!

Since I have Amplitube, does anybody here that uses it knows of a preset (or a set of configs) to reach a blink182ish distortion sound starting from a clean guitar?

Btw, I know that only amplitube won't get me there, but does anybody know of a preset that amplitube can pull off that'll get me closer?

Thanks a lot!

During the Dude Ranch days, I saw him using Invader pickups in his guitars.
