why does my first track bleed into my second heavily using cool edit pro?!

I have a bleeding problem also.......

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
:D

gosh, i was so excited that i got a reply to my problem! haha, i guess with a name like that, there is no way to resist. peace

You would probably get better results in the Cool Edit forum...then again.maybe you won't.:)

Hmm. I dont see how this is possible. Unless, you are monitoring the 1st track very loudly while recording the 2nd track. Then it might bleed.

Its not Cool Edit thats doing it though, bro...

what are you recording from?

What soundcard, microphone, mixer or preamp, etc...

i am using a laptop to record. it has the standard soundcard with an audio out and audio in. the in is taken from my mixer (behringer unfortunatley), and i plug my headphones directly into the out port on my laptop. the weird thing is, it is only when i have the headphones plugged in that it bleeds over, monitors don't even do it!!

I used to have that exact same problem you did with my old stock soundcard but once I switched over to the Delta series soundcard, everything changed and i'm a happy camper now.

What you can do also is go to the options > settings > devices and make sure under the form Record / Playback drop down boxes that your soundcard is selected and not WaveMapper or something like that.

I think this is the problem. I know you are lmited with a laptp but perhaops a USB audio device such as the Tascam US 428 etc would be a good alternative as you are not really spoiled for choice whe looking for audio soundards in PMCIA format.

What do you have selected as your recording input in Windows Mixer?

Yuck, behringer and a laptop soundcard, the worst of both worlds.

The behringer mixer could be causeing the bleeding, it has really bad crosstalk between the busses. When using a Behringer board take the output from the insert, the busses are way to noisy. I had the click track playing on the alt bus while I was recording off the main and everything off the main buss had click bleed through.

Laptop soundcards suck period

Make sure in your windows mixer on recording view that the wav source is turned down all they way and the only thing up is the line input.

thank you everyone. i have changed the preferences on CEP to input from my soundcard, not wavemapper. I think that should make a difference. thanks!
