any suggestions where to find good, bulk, blank CD-Rs (blank on both sides too) online?? Where do you guys get yours at?

I buy whatever is cheapest @ Best Buy, Circuit City, Micro Center, etc.

Because I use so many and one mix may take a dozen tries to nail I can't afford to be too picky.

This strategy has served me quite well - over the years I am probably running something like a .1% (one out of a thousand) "TOTALLY UNUSABLE" rate...

Yo Chico:

I ran short of blank CD's the other day and stopped at Walgreen's Drug Store and got my second pack of Sony 80 minute CDRs=no problem with them.

I also use Mitsui. The Sony discs come with a "thin" jewel case--thinner than the Matsui.

But, there are many discs out there that will perform well, as reported in the reply posts.

Green Hornet :D

I use whatever is on sale at Office Max. Typically Hypermedia or something like that. During mixdown I use lots of CD's to check on different systems (car, home stereo, boombox, etc) so I need them cheap. It seems like every time CD burn speed goes up Office Max will put the slower ones on sale with great rebates. This seems to happen about once a quarter to 3 times a year. When they run these specials I load up. Last time I loaded up (last summer) I got 400 blanks for $10.00 after rebates. 2.5 cents each. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah....

Does a faster Burn rate decrease the sound quality or does it not effect it? And can you get cdrs that have silver colored bottoms or is the blue and green about all you can get? Sorry to sound like a dolt, but I'm very new to this stuff.

maxell cd-r pro for archiving, cheapest available for everyday use.

My experience has been that Maxells have a lower error rate than the others I have tried, and the ones sold to teenyboppers (those that emulate the appearance of vinyl 45s, for example) generally have the highest number of errors. Everything else is somewhere in between, so I have standardized for the moment on Maxell. I hope to get some Taiyo Yudens soon, though.

Newbie here again. I use Fujifilm CD-R All Purpose and I get them at Best Buy because they're tough to find online. (I pay around $15 for a 30 pak). And I buy them for a good reason...my Casio CD Printer. These discs are virtually blank of label type bullshit that most cds have and allow my printer to do an exquisite job. For those of you not hip to the Casio CW-50...buy one tomorrow. This thing makes unfuckingreal pro CDs complete with your own icons etc. in any color. Anyway, getting back...these CDs are rated for both data and audio-you can't beat 'em. (Any of you out there beside me own one of these sweet printers?)

At Sam's Club I usually find a stack of 100 for around $25. They also have cases, 100 for around $15.

I used to go through a shit load of cdr's before i got a mix right where i wanted it. It was frustrating, not to mention expensive and wastfull. Then I had a brilliant idea....( Duhhhh.. ) use cdrw's to burn to until i get the mix right....then burn to cdr's. Then if the mix ain't just right, just erase the cdrw and try again. Saves me a lot of disc's. I don't know why it took me so long to figure that one out...I think it's just that nobody seems to use cdrw's much, at least no where near as much as cdr's.

No, but I saw that one in the recent Cyberguys catalog and thought it looked interesting. It's pretty inexpensive, so I had my doubts. I may have to get one after seeing your rave. (I use those Fuji discs sometimes, too.)

Of COURSE he gets it on the first try!

...he just wants to make sure.....
