I used to get this on my shitty computer. I recently upgraded to a dual core / better motherboard, etc. and I'm getting this problem again. I haven't upgraded my RAM yet (still sitting @ 768mb) but I'm not sure this is the problem.

With my old computer after recording for a few hours my computer would start to pop, blip, insert noises in the WAV files which actually showed up in the WAV display (but wasn't actually on the file) or just cut out stuff. I've barely done much today and it started throwing a vocal track out of sync and now if I playback it's all kinds of weird noises...bursts of white noise and stuff I can't explain. I restarted my computer but it's still doing it, but I'm still cleaning up my computer right now.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of people having this problem before, but what gives??

Great, as I was trying to install the newest driver for my 1010lt, it managed to uninstall itself. !@^%#%$@#%

it can't play as fast as it is set to read the data. increase buffer size

Thanks, I'll try that, I figured it was probably something simple like that. I got my card installed again, I guess the new driver probably messed it in the first place.
