ok---i don't know if this is where this goes but here it is:

a friend is gonna use my song as an opening to a forum i frequent. the song is over 5 minutes and is 10 megs plus as a MP3! the bitrate is 256kbps. the guy that runs the forum says it's too big of a file for the 56k folks. i was doing some figuring and if i get it down to 64 kbps, it will be a 2.5 meg file. i know the quality won't be as good but i don't know what else to do.

soooo, anybody know how i can convert my song from 256 to 64kbps? i have N-track,goldwave, and the "cdex" encoder.

jw:confused:

the best thing to do would be to re-encode the mp3 from the original .wav file.......

if thats not possible, CDEX has a re-encode option....check out the help file under "re-encode compressed audio files"......

Goldwave will do it also.....simply open the .mp3 file, click save as, and choose to save it as a 64kbps .mp3........

you can try to experiment with variable rate encoding if you are familiar with that.....

if you want, you can PM me where i can find the .mp3 and let me know what size you want it and i'll try a few different ways and see what sounds best.....
