Bit of a pickle regarding my Download

Hi. On my bands website We have downloads which are fantastically slow (see here) I'll start by telling you what I did from scratch and then maybe someone could tell me what to do differently.
1.Using Audacity recording as "what you here" I played the WAV file on media player.
2)Once recorded (as mono) I saved it as MP3.
3)I burned these MP3s onto disc and uploaded them to the web hosting server(freewebs)(the reason for this was I don't have internet but my work does! ;) )
you can see what I've done from there on my site. Can anyone help with regards to what sample rate I should be using etc.

1)Why would you burn the mp3 on a CD before FTP'ing it to the host?
2)Your Multitrack recording SW should be able to "render" or mixdown to a STEREO Wav file. Do this and do not use Media Player to get a MONO file
3)Take your stereo wav file and use a converter (do a search here for recommendations) to convert it to a MP3 file
4)Use your favorite FTP software to upload it to host.
