Hello, Bill! I am only today getting a chance to listen to your excellent CD. There are so many things I like about it. The relative levels of background music and voice are just perfect. I wonder where you got the music. How'd you get it into the VF80? I also think you must be using nicer mikes than what I have. Mine are very muddy by comparison. Are the voices doubled? There is something special about the voice quality (distinctly bassy and trebly simultaneously is as best I can describe it) that any sound engineer would recognize but which I do not. Here's a tip. Slow down -- the sentences sound compressed, and I can never hear you inhale! Rush L. uses a compressing technique to eliminate pauses and save time, but it's not an appealing product in my opinion. Maybe you just talk fast, I don't know.
I cannot say that track 3 appeals to me -- you know what I mean, I guess.
Finally, I appreciate the encouraging and hopeful substance of the files. Many will be touched by them, but I am one of a hundred mega zillion pre-vatican II catholics who reflexively resist the optimism of this kind of message. I used to get quite excited about this kind of thing, but my philosophy now is "different strokes for different folks." I do not mean to insinuate that you mean anything different. I'll be happy to discuss it further by e-mail. Thanks again.

Been away... Thanks for the comments. I've got to try to remember the music on the tracks I sent you. On at least two tracks, the music is mine, done on a microKorg and recorded direct into the VF80. The tekno spot is all microKorg, plus a ZoomRT123 drum machine. The :60 second track (if I sent one) uses music from Shawshank Redemption. I imported it as per the instructions, onto tracks 1&2. The mics are Studio Projects B1's, with a tiny bit of VF80 reverb -- that's it. No EQ. No compression. The SPB1's go for $100. with a shock mount, and may be the best value out there.
As to the amount of material, or words, it's necessary to have commercials be exactly :30 or :60. So you really have to move along, as opposed to just talking into an open mike ala Rush Limbaugh. It's always a real challenge. Even so, thanks for the comments! I'll keep an ear on my pacing.
I'd be glad to ping-pong some thoughts. I am going away for a week starting Sunday... So if I don't get back, I will.
