Thought of one that I don't think has been mentioned. Corrosion Of Conformity. They have some pretty killer tones at times.

OH and if your into metal and haven't listened to OverKill: I hear black, It is most awsome, It's got that guitar tone that vibrates things off the counter with out getting super muddy. Thats a hard task!!

And for that Heavy mid range tone try out Skin Yard. Either 1000 smiling knuckles or fist size chunks. These guys could have been Sound Garden. same town. In 91 skin yard kicked sound gardens ass album VS album.

O.K. all I have.

F.S.

For kicks, go listen to the intros on Dirty Deeds and then on Enter Sandman. To me, they both have the same plodding heavy feel that makes both the biggest and most dangerous guitar sound to my ears. Wish I could have voted for both of them. Since I had to choose between the two, I prefer the simpler sound of Angus. As much as I don't want to admire a guitar player that can't seem to get beyond a simple three chord progression, Angus proves that in music, as with many things in life, sometimes less is more.

Angus Eats A Dick!!!!!!!!!!

Angus has an OK bluesy tone. Not a ballsy tone. His playing is fucking lame as hell. How man ways can you arrange 3 chords into a song...just count how many AC/DC songs there are. Dimebag all the way...next in line ME, my guitar rig is monstrous and heavy as fuck. But no really AC/DC that must be a sick joke. I can't beleive the shit peoples minds allow them to say. Just because you have a favorite band doen't make them great. Thats like saying that Metallicas Kill Em All was great production...it just isn't the case. Listen, and make an objective statement. Dangerous tones would imply heaviness, heaviness would involve same gain on the guitars. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. Prong has some heavy tones too, and many others but fuck...faget angus...schoolboy get up and week music. As you can see i am anti AC/DC all the way. But i was able to make an educated/objective opinion in saying that his tone is very good for bluesy type rock...although i hate the man. AC/DC is one of the most overrated bands i have had the displeasure to hear. And to hear he has dangerous tone...give me a fucking break. Plug a guitar into the 1/4 in mic input of a 5 watt karaoke machine and voila you have angus' DANGEROUS TONE!! HA HA MOTHERFUCKING HA. Now where is my medication?

Well Angus must have a more dangerous tone than Dimebag, cuz the bag hasn't got tone period.

You might be fooled to think different. 10 years from know, you'll understand.

What Are You on!!!

Stefan... first off i must get this off my chest, if you think that people who listen to metal go through a phase and grow out of it, in my case you are sadly mistaken. I have been listening to heavy music since i was like 5, and i am now 22. I will still be into it when i am 50. Your ignorance is blindingly brilliant, can you turn down your idiot-fuck bulb a little. I have an appreciation for all forms of music, but metal is what i really dig. And when people come on here and are like, "someday you'll see when you are older and wiser" i can only say kiss my ass. That is so dumb. How old is Rob Halford, King Diamond, Ozzy Ozborne, i mean christ some people will eventually settle down and jam out to polka in their later years and thats fine. Don;t stereotype everyone. that is dumb. And back to the matter at hand, Dimebag has great tone, very clear, notes ring well, full of dynamics, and he leaves mids in their unlike lots of other metal bands guitarist. Angus' tone is good, in bluesy rock, but not nearly as big. or "Dangerous" sounding as Dime's. I think i hear a bingo hall calling your name old timer.

Ahem.....can we all wathc out foul mouths? Musicians don't have potty mouths ;)

POTTY MOUTH POTTY MOUTH!!!!!

This one does. HEHEHEHE! I know sometimes i go a little overboard. Like the almighty Bruce says... i need to find my ridlin.

I think it would be hard to top "..And Justice For All " era Metallica. They've been quoted as saying that they hate their sound on that album, but i think it was their peak.

Without a doubt!!!!!!

I think most of you are missing the question.
I percieve the question as "Who has the biggest sound" I.e.: Who has the most in your face presence that makes you shut up and listen.
Thats got to be pantera by far. ACDC has better tone qualitys, but lacks *umpf*.

LOL!

It's funny how people try to define what "Biggest Most Dangerous" means.

Wait... Let my pull out my technical dictionary on guitar tones... Oh... wait... it doesn't exist.

Be that as it may, I love AC/DC, but I don't really think their tone compares to Metallica, Pantera, etc. in the "biggest most dangerous" category. Obviously, lots of posters are just voting for the band they like the best.

WTF?

A 3 page thread on heavy guitar tone, and only 1 mention of Corrosion Of Conformity?

I guess not many of you have listened to "Wiseblood".

Some more Heavy Shit!

Carcass-Heartwork
Prong-Rude Awakening
Corrosion Of Conformity-Deliverance
Testament-The Gathering
Metallica-Blcak Album
Pantera-Far Beyond Driven
Kataclysm-anything by them
Hatebreed-Perseverance
Stuck Mojo-Pigwalk
My Dying Bride-Like Gods Of The Sun
Type O Negative-Bloody Kisses
In Flames-Reroute To Remain
Fear Factory-anything by them
At The Gates-Slaughter Of The Soul
Nevermore-Dead Heart In A Dead World
Mercyful Fate-Into the Unknown
Soilwork-Natural Born Chaos
Killswitch Engage-Alive Or Just Breathing
Demons And Wizards
Life Of Agony-The River Runs Red

These are all albums that have ballsy tone within their different styles of metal. Some of the bands i don't care for on here but they got that wall of sound going...but still Pantera reigns supreme.

The original question said "DANGEROUS" not "heavy". Man, you metal cliche's can't even read!:D

AC/DC
rawks!

H2H

in my opinion, heavy, dangerous guitar tone requires punch. ac/dc is the only band on that list that has that. so they got my vote.

scooping all the mids out of your guitar and turning your gain to "11" doesn't give you heavy tone.

Pantera-Cowboys From Hell
Zakk/Ozzy-My Jeckyl Doesn't Hyde
Ultimate monster bass tone-John Paul Jones-HeartBreaker, the sound of his bass makes my dick hard.
