big vocal sound

i have condeser mic which is good for clean sound with toucxh of reverb but i need big sound (heavy) but lots of reverb doesn't work (to far away) can i get a spacious sound with sonar or do you need outboard effects (aural exiter or ?) . how does phill collens get his sound or others like sting?

help I need a wall of sound
