big problem

well for me...

My microphone is broken! it RATTLES! and when i plug it into the four track it doesnt work at all. This is an omen.

Help!

For you guys in America everything is cheap. Not for me here.

I am gutted! Gutted!

Dude! That blows! What kinda mic? What do you mean it rattles? Please explain....maybe it can be fixed?

This is funny. I mean, sorry to hear about your mic, but you probably own the cheapest mic in this forum, but yet, makes one of the best recordings. It always makes me feel stupid to even consider upgrading my preamp when I hear your stuff. Can't imagine what will come out if you got a nice mic.

Too bad the only spare mic I have is a radioshack one(might as well cosider it broken)....but I am sure someone here will donate a mic to you tho.

How much is a sm57 there?

it rattles inside the mesh and I cant open it.

I noticed it didnt work when I plugged it in and tryed to record. Nothing but confusion.

Excellent!!! But it shouldn't be TOTALLY free. Erland has to read the infamous PREAMP thread in the mic forum before you ship, okay?

That's the truth. I've actually got an extra mic that I was going to send him as well, but I figured by the time that thought occured to me, probably ten people had already offered via PM.

Erland, you shoulda said your car broke down!

Yeah, I gotta' join in on the snicker with this one. I recently had the pleasure of working on one of Erland's tracks, and when I was editing the fade, I had the volume pretty loud...and you can actually hear the wheels turning on the 4 track...b/c one of them is out of alignment (sorry to break it to you Erland, but you may need a repair job on that soon as well). Anyway, I just had to laugh my ass off. It's such a killer recording.

I will never bitch about gear publicly again....(soon as I find a place for this shitty AKG Condensor... :eek: :eek: :eek: ).

I didn't hear it before, but I went back and it's definitely there. Could be anything.

I used to work somewhere the heating system sounded like that.

Or it could be a sheep-powered generator that provides Erland with all his electricity - they're a bit behind the times up North, you know.

PPS The special prize of a broken mic goes to the first non-Scot who can guess what that means.

In a moment of panic I posted this thread but I am so overwhelmed. You guys are awsome really!

I went onto ebay and found a mic.

Now I rechon I enter the world of condensor becasue the difference I hear on the forum is just amazing. (eg. Watyf)

I am getting this cheap condensor but all the goodies too without breaking the bank.

1 MCA condenser mike
1 shock mount
2 xlr cables
1 dual channel mike pre/phantom PSU

I have no idea about this preamp thing but he is giving me a dual instead of a single that cost more than the mic? becasue he ran out of singles. ???????????to me

I know, this probably sucks but I will do my best and I rechon it'l do me just fine. Its just to record songs with as before but a little better perhaps.

I so excited.

glad to see you resolved the situation Erland. I still think you could sing into an electric guitar pickup and make better recordings than half of the members here, including myself.
