Big/large solid body guitar suggestions??

Hi,

Can u recommend a big/large SOLID body electric guitar? Also semi hollow, but solid body is preferred. Apart from Gibson es335, gretsch falcon. What else exists out there??

Big thnxx ❤

Solid body guitars tend to NOT be large because of the weight factor so I can't think of any that would be large like a semi or full hollow. There are lots of semi and full hollow guitars so it would be helpful to know what type of music it will be used for. All the big names make them.

Thnxx. U see.. I’m a tall guy and small guitar is not comfortable to fuk with. Acoustic is ok but electrics are too small to handle properly for me, especially when sitting. I want smth multipurpose, so hollow jazzers r no no..
I feel I’m gonna end up selling a kidney and ordering a custom luthier guitar damnit.....

Tedly is a pretty big guy and he is known for playing a Gibson Birdland:

Jimmy Page Gibson ES350:

... and the list goes on and on.

You might look at a Rickenbacker. The 360 is a bit larger than most solid bodies, and not quite as "hollow" as a 335/Starfire IV/Casino or other hollow body.

Semi hollows have a lot of the advantages of a solid body but are definitely larger than your typical LP/Tele/Strat styles.

Ricks shape is good too, but it’s sound is not versatile. One trick pony

Full size Es335 with a solid body would be a dream come true for me.
It can always be chambered a bit to relieve the weight.

Small guitar sucks if u r a tall guy. Your wrist is allways distorted. Crippled experience. Period. I’m 6’3

I'm 6'4, but since I played metal I was able to get away with pointy guitars. My main one was a gibson explorer. Another one was an ibanez iceman. The Dean ML is another big one...

Ye. I’ve got ml too. It’s my favourite. Iceman would be towards the right side too. But Gibson es335 in full solid body would be ideal fukka for me in all meanings..
Thnxx brother

I'm guessing a solid guitar the size of a 335 would be north of 13 or 14 lbs, even if you used a light wood like swamp ash. A lot of Les Pauls are in the 10lb range. Maybe you should look at a Thunderbird. They're actually pretty good sized compared to a Strat or Tele.

I'm 6 ft, have several different styles of guitars, and I've never had an issue with my wrist being distorted. My worst problem is playing my dreadnought acoustic while seated because it makes me stick my right arm out which bothers my back and shoulder, unless I am standing and using a strap.

Thnxx. Solid Es335 could be chambered here and there to relieve the weight. As many Lps are.

Small guitar on a lap for a tall guy is like playing ukulele.. for me it will never be right as is with an acoustic guitar that lifts up a neck and projects it a bit forward from your chest to give a comforting space for long arms. Jazzers r ideal guitars for that.
I’ve got dean ml, and that fukka at least shifts a neck more towards left hand for better access to all frets. I recommend this guitar for tall guys so u don’t feel like playing ukulele lost inside your crotch. It’s a manly guitar.
