I've purchased BFD and it should arrive in a week or so. Now the question is whaqt do i need to make it run as smooth as possible? I currently have 1 gig of ram, and I'm hoping that buying a seperate (SATA150) hard drive for the samples will be the best option to improve performace, but if everyone thinks more Ram is more important that I guess I'll go down that path

1 gig of ram should be enough, some motherboards and software act funny with a lot of memory (cause nobody ever tested the software or the chipset on a fully maxed out machine). I have seen this ususally above 2 gig.

don't buy anything else till you know you need it. if you are running xp, you might check out www.videoguys.com xp tweaks articles. audio and video are both streaming data at high data rates, so it may be applicable to you.

G'day y'all.

Like Rstiltskin said, try it out first before you spend money on something you don't need. However, if it isn't running smooth enough for you, I'd opt for the increased RAM. I use DFH Superior and often find myself desiring more than my 1gig. Last I checked, BFD doesn't have the sample size of DFH Superior (35gig), so it may not be a problem at all for you. Then again, BFD may utilize resources in an entirely different way than DFH.
