Just getting on the ribbon bandwagon. Rented a Royer 121 and was blown away, but it's a bit out my price range, for now anyway. Just to get a ribbon I bought an Octava ML52...really sucks on some sound sources, but on congas and some hand percussion it sounds really nice.
Now I'm looking at the Beyers. I've done some searching here but have acouple of questions. What are the differences in sound qualities between the Beyer ribbons? Are there any versions of the same model that are more desireable, or ones to stay away from? Lastly, what are reasonable prices for these mics new/used?
