Just to say first off I'm a newbie at recording and don't have heaps of gear, but I put this little demo together last night, Drums, bass and piano are midi and I've added a few tracks of telecaster and my vocals.
The only condenser mic I own is a small AKG C451b with which I recorded the vocals, there's no pop filter but I left the wind shield on the mic that probably explains the pop or perhaps sibulance around bar 18.
What I was really getting at here is can someone give me a rough idea what LDC may suit my style of voice? Which mic would you fetch out of your locker for this type of voice? I'm building some new JLM audio preamps at the moment but which mic to aim for is the question, I don't mind pushing the boat out a wee bit! Any ideas anyone? Here in the U.K. it's next to impossible to audition any mics, it's buy 'em and thats it!
Here's the link, its country-rockish.

This has just been an experiment!!

After listening to your song I'd recommend an ADK Hamburg. From the sound of your vox I think it would match up well for you. The Hamburg can be bought for less than $300 and I suspect you could get one for that price including delivery across the pond. Good luck and here's a link. Nice song and vox by the way.

Thanks Ijmax
Thats one mic i did wonder about and also the Vienna, is it worth pushing the boat out and going for one of the ADK valve models i wonder, thanks again any other ideas appreciated.

I'd probably say Audiotechnica 4047.

It tends to be a pretty safe bet with most female vocalists in your range.

M-Audio has some good stuff for cheap, I love their Luna. It did well with a male voice (he was quite the squealy male) a little higher than yours.

It looks as if the Vienna mic gives a bit more high end and can be eq'd to sound more like the Hamburg if required, judging by a few forum postings. Anyone tried this? Am i barking up the right tree here?
