Better version of GM.DLS ???

Is there a better version of GM.DLS (3,361K) ?

Is there a better sounding alternative replacement for this file ?

Anybody experimented with this ?

Nothing I've heard of for the DLS standard, but there are literally scores of free softsynths and soft fx available here.

If you're using any software that doesn't allow plugins it's time to upgrade. The shareware Reaper is $40 with an unrestricted 30 day trial, and old fave Tracktion gives you 14 days to play with it and if you like it it's $150.
