better mic or compressor?

here's the deal. i'm getting a rode nt1, art tube mp, and probably an rnc all this summer. what i'm wondering is if i should spend more $ on a mic, and leave out the compressor.

Still, what are you tracking to? But I also thought about it more and... The tube in the ART Tube MP will give you a natural tube compression when you push it... I'm still not sure what I recommend yet though.

but dont leave out the commpressor

Get an Art Tube Pac. It is a tube pre and a tube compressor and has phantom power.Rock On!

You could get the good mic and ride your faders during tracking or at mixdown ... that would make Les Paul proud!
