Has anyone tried recording with Shure Beta 98:s on drums? That is on the toms and the snare. I've heard them on live drums and they sound killer.

98's rock!! For certain styles of music I love those little things. On toms only. Give me a good 57 for snare top and maybe bottom. Just be careful not to drop them or have a drummer hit them. That is a lot of bucks for some drunk and sloppy rocker to be hitting. They do have a unique eq curve to them that seems to be very musical for drums. So if it sounds good and feels good do it!!

I personally think the Beta 98's are the best tom mic's ever made.

And if you use muffling inthe kick, the Beta 91 is the best Kick mic around as well.
