How do I get my wave mixes into mp3 format? Is there a "preferred" software app for this?

There are various codecs that do the job.I think the order of preference might be the lame codec first, followed by fraunhoffer and blade a distant third.
I prefer lame for its sound quality and use the lamebatch program to run the codec.Type any of these keywords into your browser and you can get free software to do the job.

Tom -

The Lame codec bet v3.89 is available for download. Is that the right version or would you recommend a more "stable" non-beta version?

Thanks for your help!

Sorry not to know about the latest beta.I have a version at least 6 months old.I do recommend the "lamebatch" shell to run the codec. You can drag and drop your waves in a queue for batch processing, very convenient.
If you are planning music for download over the web,I recommend stereo 256K bit rate on the resolution for sound quality. For those folks that are too antsy to wait for a modest 5 minute download, offer them lessor quality streaming audio like microsoft's .wma or .asx formats. These are available free on the m.s. download page at their site.

Sjoko2 recently recommended Music Match which has a free download at http://www.webmasterfree.com/musicmatch.html

it uses the Fraunhofer codec.....he picked this out of all the software programs he auditioned....very experienced ears that Sjoko guy has.....i think he once was a runner for a major studio....

:D LOL @ Gidge's remark about Sojko2.

There may be something at this site ( I didn't check it out first). :)

If you can get the download that Sojko2 ok'd, then you should get it.
