What are your favorites? i'm sure this as been done before, but i was having a really hard time finding it via search...

so, what do you like? it can be $20 or 18k (not bad frequency response eh? :p )

EV RE 27
Shure SM7
Brauner Phantom C
Old (70's) Neumann 87
akg 451
Studio Projects T3
Marshall 77

well, my personal list is a little more modest:
bright: blue blueberry
more neutral: oktavamodded pe mk-219
tubey: karma k-58 w/ rca 6072a
i have a nady tcm1100 that has been getting a peluso capsule, cinemag transformer and a tube and capacitor upgrade in the canadian workshop of dave thomas since october that i'm hoping to receive at some point, that may jump to the top of the list if it lives up to hype.

In $300 range:
CAD M9 if working with bass/baritone/tenor vocalist or needing some added brightness/air.
SE2200A if working with alto/mezzo-soprano/soprano or wanting a little less brightness/air.
These 2 mics could alone could cover a ton of sonic ground for a home studio person on a budget.
I like my Z3300A on my voice (baritone). :D

U87
TLM103
MK319
AT4050
MLK2500 Tube

Covers most stuff I do.

....

The old U87s have a different layout, mostly because of phantom power changes, and some of them actually have different capsules. Plus the old ones could be powered internally by 2 photoflash 22.5v batteries.

The new ones (U87A) are a little less noisy and have higher sensitivity.

Yea, that search function is really hard to navigate.

.

I usually put up a dynamic mic on vocals. I think they go better with American English.

Yeah, I like my vocals to be dynamic, not condensed.

My two faves at the moment are the AT 4050 (I have two of them) and the Studio Projects T3.
