I have a crappy ol' Roland Juno 106 ... the first synth I ever bought, back when they were new (am I dating myself here?), back in 1983. I love it for bass and leads -- it has analog processing and filters of a DCO ... by today's standards it sounds FAT. I guess these used to be overpriced on the used market a few years ago because Madonna used it heavily then, and the Chemical Brothers were known to use it. But maybe the used price on these things has gone down.
Actually, mine's not really crappy ... I mean, it's always been reliable. I have to get a few levers professionally cleaned to get the static crunch out when I move them, but that's about it.
If you're interested and want more info I think Harmony Central had a bunch of user reviews that were useful ... or it might have been another site. If you google search on it I'm sure you'll find an eyeful.
